Audi Q5

You could call the new Audi Q5 an SUV. But if it doesn’t look like an ordinary SUV, that’s because it isn’t. Our designers chose not to follow convention, enabling them to produce something rather special: a beautifully streamlined vehicle that combines space and comfort with the driving dynamics of a coupé. It’s only by driving the Audi Q5 that you can truly appreciate why it’s like no other car in its class.

The New Audi Q5 has taken the Compact SUV sector to a new level, having been awarded a ‘five-star’ rating by What Car? Magazine, TV’s Fifth Gear and Channel 4’s 4 car website. Auto Express has declared the Audi Q5 “the most desirable Compact SUV bar none.”

The front end features expressive headlights on both sides of the large single-frame grille, available with bi-xenon lamps and LED daytime running lights. Viewed from the side, the large wheels and rising edges are especially prominent features. The elegant slope of the roof underscores the slim, coupe-like styling. At the rear, the aluminium wraparound tailgate clearly shows this SUV is a relative of its older brother, the Audi Q7. The tail lights are available with distinctive LED lighting technology as well.

Audi offers three different Q5 external trim options – black (standard), contrasting colour, or a full body-coloured paint finish. There are also two body packages available – the S line for a more sporty look, or the Off-Road style with front and rear under-body protection, and 19-inch wheels to give a more robust character.

Exclusive and functional: the interior
Soft cloth or, as an option, leather dominate inside the Audi Q5. There is above all plenty of space. The rear seat backs can be folded down from the luggage compartment using the remote release mechanism.

The cargo area of the Audi Q5 holds a generous 540 litres of luggage. The low sill height of just 693 mm makes loading the vehicle extremely easy. A loading width of 1,050 mm is also a practical feature.

The Audi Q5’s suspension, with its five-link front axle and trapezoidal-link rear axle, delivers an agile drive. Both enable a rapid build-up of forces, thus ensuring outstanding straight running, good ride comfort and excellent directional stability.

Intelligent ESP
The latest generation of Electronic Stability Programme offers intelligent technical assistance: a new sensor system detects whether the standard roof cross-members are attached. The system then adapts to take account of the higher centre of gravity caused by the load.

Individual vehicle characteristics
The optional Audi Drive Select system changes the vehicle characteristics from comfortable to dynamic and back again at the press of a button via three basic modes. In conjunction with the damper control and/or dynamic steering available as optional extras, Audi Drive Select lets you drive just the way you want.

Audio systems
The Audi Q5 is fitted as standard with the chorus radio including single CD player. The optional Concert or Symphony audio systems provide diverse listening pleasure: radio, CD player and SD card readers are extremely simple to control. With AUX-in or the optionally available Audi music interface, you can also listen to music from your ipod or a USB medium. And, with the optionally available mobile phone preparation, you can connect your mobile phone conveniently via Bluetooth.
Multi Media Interface (MMI)

Optional MMI offers even more functions. Satellite navigation plus with 3D map display offers access to the various integrated audio sources such as hard disk, DVD drive (audio/video), two SD card readers (MP3 and WMA files) and AUX-in connection. Your directory with up to 2,000 entries can now also be managed easily. And various external media, such as an iPhone or a USB hard disk, can be connected up to the MMI via the optional Audi music interface.

Sound systems
The audio system’s sound is equally impressive. Regardless of which system you choose, the Audi Q5 is equipped with eight powerful speakers. The optional Audi Sound System features optional ten speakers, including centre speaker, subwoofer and amplifier. And for absolute music fanatics, the Bang & Olufsen Sound System. This plays music in surround sound from 14 speakers, including centre speaker, subwoofer and a 505-watt amplifier.

Q5 Engines: Strong and efficient

Petrol
TFSI® - Turbocharged Fuel Stratified Injection. Making use of technology originally introduced for the Le Mans 24-hour race. Delivering increased power and torque with improved fuel efficiency. A 15% reduction in fuel consumption is achieved with also a marked decrease in exhaust emissions. This is perfect for the driver who seeks an invigorating drive without the compromise.

Diesel
TDI® Audi have continued to improve the technology with the recent introduction of common-rail technology offering even more efficiency, power and refinement. This not only reduces the noise commonly associated with diesel technology, but also allows for fuel combustion at a lower temperature. Less oxygen is therefore required, which in turn lowers emissions.

Four-cylinder engine unites three high- tech features – turbo-charging, petrol direct-injection technology and the innovative Audi variable control, valve-lift system. 0 to 62mph in 7.2 seconds/Top speed 138mph/Average consumption 33.2mpg/High torque of 350 Nm (between 1,500 rpm, remaining constant up to 4,200 rpm), with performance peaking at 211PS.

* Audi Q5 2.0 TDI Superbly refined, thanks to a new common-rail fuel injection system. 0 to 62.5 mph in 9.5 seconds/Combined fuel consumption 42.1mpg/Top speed 127mph/High Torque 350 Nm (between 1,750 and 2,500 rpm), this diesel engine delivers its typically strong response from an impressive 170PS.

* Audi Q5 3.0 TDI. The most powerful engine in the line-up with outstanding response and refinement. 0 to 62mph in 6.5 seconds/Top speed 139mph/Combined Fuel consumption 36.6mpg/The V6 diesel engine delivers 240PS and 500 Nm of torque, available between 1,500 and 3,000 rpm.

The new ABT Q5 Blue – more than a SUV

The company from southern Germany has also developed a design for the new Q5, which makes the diverse car appear as powerful, confident and very harmonic. Pure class in every situation – that is precisely what this sublime SUV from ABT also stands for: the front spoiler and the prominent front grill find their equivalent in the fender extensions and door trims. Each detail is optically harmonised up to the crowning “finish”, formed by the rear wing and rear apron.

The design also continues in the interior: decorative inserts made of carbon leather improve the ambience and also give the “work place” a stylish and classy look. The ABT muffler is also part of the perfect appearance of the ABT Q5, and with its four tail pipes precisely indicates the sporting pedigree of the SUV. The use of BR alloys is also recommended, which look particularly good on the car in 22 inch form. The ABT Q5 looks impressive everywhere, be it at the golf course, by the opera or on the promenade. But the diverse sports car really wants to be driven, as thanks to the engineering art of the German company the engines are in even better condition: with ABT POWER, the 2.0 TDI offers a powerful 190HP (140kW) instead of 170HP (125kW). The Q5 goes about its work powerfully with the 3.0 TDI: with ABT POWER S it provides 310HP (228kW) on the road. Thanks to the enormous torque of 610Nm the engine can cope with ease in any situation. The 2.0 TSI is also excellently harmonised with the vehicle: with ABT POWER it offers a sporty 240HP (177kW) instead of the standard 211HP (155kW) and is soon going to be upgraded to 275 HP (203kW). In order to ensure that the SUV remains controllable, the ABT technicians have developed a finely tuned packet to lower the centre of gravity of the car and have attached corresponding springs. The ABT Sports braking unit (disc diameter: 380 millimetres) is responsible for providing perfect braking performance. Its built-in flexible steel brake lines, together with the large brake discs, provide lower fading in repeat braking manoeuvres.
